Revised Hilti shear connector arrangement logic (affects mostly profiles with trough stiffeners)

Use of HVB Hilti shear connectors not permitted when thickness of flange to which they are attached is less than 8mm

Unit of cladding loads in output corrected (from kN/m² to kN/m) - no effect on engineering

Note added to clarify that BDES assume shear connectors on favourable side of trough only.

User can now select from a standard list of deck profile gauges  (weight automatically updated for different sheet thicknesses)

Where used, longitudinal capacity of concrete flange correctly accounts for thickness and design strength of deck profile

Reported bug: "Untrapped Run Time Error ‘13’ Type Mismatch, now fixed. This bug affected primary beams with three incoming beams or more, causing the program to stall on the Shear Connectors form or/and the Floor Plan Data form.  The analysis core was not affected.

 

 

Version 7.1

Automatic web update facility added to the Corus versions of the software.  This facility ensures that the software checks a web page at agreed intervals for any updates. Patch updates are self installing. The user can choose to install the update immediately or at a later stage.  The application safely shut down before any updates are installed.

A major upgrade retaining all the functionality associated with earlier versions such as:

 

·        automatic beam selection

·        composite and non-composite floors

·        propped and unpropped construction

·        primary and secondary beams

·        standard and user-defined deck profiles

·        point loads, patch loads, uniformly distributed loads, and

·        web openings which may be circular, rectangular or elongated, with or without stiffeners

 

Available in four different versions: BDES Corus UK, BDES Hilti UK, BDES Corus International and BDES Hilti International.  However, all versions share the same design engine and include several new facilities including:

 

·        use of Hilti shear connectors (as an option to headed studs)

·        design to AISC or EC3/EC4 ENV

·        multilingual support (Languages supported include Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish)

 

Additionally, this release includes:

 

·        resolution of all reported bugs in earlier versions.

·        a wider range of sections from several countries, including UB, UC, RHS, SHS, IPE, HE, IPN, American and Chinese.

·        a wider range of deck profiles from several countries. Standard profiles include British, American, Czech, French, Chilean and Chinese. 

 

Only the UK versions are issued in the UK.

Facility for discrete web openings in the webs of the beams introduced.  Openings may be circular, rectangular or elongated oval shaped. Openings may be stiffened or unstiffened.
