Specialist Apprenticeship Programme
Following on from extensive consultation with the FPDC, Employers and a range of Industry Experts, a new Specialist Apprenticeship Scheme Pilot will commence toward the end of October 2009 at the newly established National Construction College at the Royal Docks Campus, Woolwich Manor Way in East London. The apprenticeship programme also enjoys the support of METSEC who will be providing the materials and technical support free of charge for the Pilot Schemes that will be run at two venues in London and a third venue in the North West Region.
The Apprenticeship framework consists of assessment of the NVQ at Level 2, the completion of Key Skills at Level 1, and around 30 days of off the job training over a two year period of attachment to the Programme and is designed to address the needs of “Stick Building” training. The course will also include up to two days of manufacturer based training. Progression will be via the NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Work Supervision for those people who wish to achieve a supervisory qualification
Companies registered with and in scope to ConstructionSkills will be eligible to receive apprenticeship registration, attendance and achievement grants up to the maximum amounts published in the 2009/2010 CITB Grants Scheme for completion of the Apprenticeship framework. (If the framework is achieved within a two year period the attendance grant ceases to be paid)
