SCI ICT has always supported its clients ‘from cradle to grave’. This has always included a full internet service provision so that they get the full package without worrying about any ‘extras’.

We can announce a major upgrade to communications services we provide, based on the fact that what our clients value most is robustness – is the service there 24/7?

All Internet communications, although inherently robust do rely on communications providers ‘down the line’. Many companies do not realise that the content they provide may be provided over commercial service lines with very great numbers of services competing for the same bandwidth. This is called high-contention and degrades the quality of service that viewers experience.

SCI are undergoing a major upgrade to the communications service to keep pace with the bandwidths required to service very high fidelity content and most importantly to provide fail-safe services. In collaboration with Imperial College, the Silwood Park site now enjoys two independent 100Mb/s services. SCI actually has a further leased line for our business traffic. These lines are directly routed into London with very low contention, where they join the Gigabit JANET backbone connecting directly to the London Telehouse National point of presence. In other words, SCI networking capability is likely to be better than almost all leased commercial services available. Our web customers can be sure that their services are now more robust and faster than ever before.
