Recent recruits

It is a great pleasure to welcome four new starters to SCI.  Ibrahim Fahdah has joined us as an engineering software developer.  He will spend the next two years working for us in association with Imperial College as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership.  Alastair Hughes has joined as a Consultant and we will all benefit from his many years of experience in the industry.  In particular he will be involved in the writing of various Eurocode publications, making sure that what is said is of high quality and relevant to current practice.  Jane Burrell has joined our courses team and will be a cornerstone of our reinvigorated offerings.  I’m sure many of you will be in contact with her in the coming weeks and months.  Finally, Roland Chuter has joined our sustainability group.  He will bring not only much needed additional resource to this highly relevant area, but also specialist knowledge that fits well alongside our other capabilities.

The Vision we developed at the end of 2007 highlighted our desire to ‘strengthen our position as the leading provider of technical expertise to the constructional steelwork sector’.  Eurocodes and sustainability were highlighted as two of the most important areas where this expertise could be brought to bear for the benefit of the sector.  I’m sure you will agree that these latest recruits fit well with the plan.
