SCI releases new and improved Engineering Software
The SCI Engineering Software department has been busy working on new and improved software to support the Corus product range.
In January 2007 SIDS (Slim Floor Integrated Design Software) was released. SIDS provides integrated design of ASB and Slimflor® beams with metal and precast concrete flooring units. In order to further simplify the design an automatic design facility has been provided that generates a range of solutions that satisfy the input criteria; these solutions can then be further refined and optimised by the user. SIDS supersedes and replaces the two separate ASB Slimflor and Slimfor software packages.
A SIDS 1.1 update will be released shortly in response to user suggestions for enhancements to the interface. Version 2, currently under development, will include a Design Expert and integrated design of the Slimdek® flooring profiles.
In July 2007 Comdek 8.0 was released to co-ordinate with the availability of the new CF60 deck profile. This software includes advanced engineering algorithms developed at SCI that more accurately model the interaction between hogging and sagging stiffness for double span profiles. In addition the latest profile tests have been implemented, resulting in improved moment redistribution and enhanced spanning capability.
Both SIDS and Comdek are available from the Design Software area of the Corus Construction website.
