The objective for SMD V1 were:

·         To produce a commercial composite deck design software tool;

·         To ensure that the administration of users was client lead;

·         To provide in-built construction and in-service design rules for the use of flooring units;

·         To improve the graphical user interface over similar deck software on the market;

·         To embed contextual design information within the design process;

·         To bring the software into the formal SCI Quality management scheme;
