Online Courses

Following the successful online trial of its Steel Building Design to EC3 training course, SCI is pleased to announce the launch of online training courses as part of its course provision from September 2010. 

Online training offers flexibility and facilitates access to wider audiences. Delegates can attend courses from the comfort of an office or home, without incurring travel and accommodation costs. During the trial delegates attended from the UK, Ireland and Sri Lanka.

The delivery of course material online is very different to conventional training, and SCI’s aim is to keep the experience as close to face to face public courses training as possible. As such, delivery and retention of information proved to be more effective by splitting the content material across 3 half day sessions, over three weeks.

Training is delivered in “real-time” with each lecturer visible to the audience at the beginning of each session so that they can be identified, and then disappearing once the presentation commences to prevent any distraction. 

Course content includes worked examples with time given for delegates to go through them and demonstrations using a wipe board.

Delegates can type questions in any format which are only visible to the lecturer who will only make the questions and answers public if the question and answer is relevant for the whole audience.
