| Course Full Description |
This course is designed to introduce experienced steel designers to the Eurocode provisions for steel design. The course focuses on orthodox construction, covering the primary design issues for practicing engineers. The course will deliver a sense of reassurance that design to EC3 will become straightforward in time, and indeed has advantages in some areas.
As the experts in steel design, the SCI have arranged a 1 day seminar to prepare engineers for the use of Eurocode 3. The course will cover the Eurocode documentation needed for design, the design principles for steel and the major changes to present practice.
This course will explain:
- How Eurocodes will be used
- Which Eurocodes are needed for the building design, including loads, load combinations and calculations of resistance
- The principles of design to Eurocode 3
- How to calculate frame stability, member resistance and connection capacity
This course will equip any engineer with:
- A good overview of the Eurocode suite design documents
- A good understanding of the principles and methods of design under the new document (Standard Code)
- A good understanding of building design to Eurocode 3
- An appreciation of how to use the detailed calculations via worked examples
